After weeks of rain and watching Powerline concerts non-stop on payperview, Roxanne was more than delighted to see the sun shining brightly through her window pane. She yawned and jumped out of bed excitedly. It was finally beach weather! She had been dying to catch some sun and to show off her cute new swimsuit.
It didn’t take her long to get dressed. She had layed the clothes out a long time ago- a teal and white bikini, a white cover up and a straw sunhat. Examining herself in the mirror she ran down the stairs. Her father raised an eyebrow at her and crossed his arms disapprovingly at her attire the minute she arrived at the landing. After giving him the best puppy dog eyes she could possibly come up with, he caved in. Hugging him tightly she slipped on her sandals and bounded out the door before he could change his mind.
The walk to the beach was a bit long but it was worth it. There were beautiful seashells of all shapes and kinds washed up on the shore, and sea glass was everywhere, glimmering in the morning light. She was so mesmerized and excited that she didn’t notice the girl sitting in the sand right in front of her. Roxanne nearly walked straight into her. “I-I’m so sorry!” she exclaimed, her face now flushing. She felt horrible, what if she had walked on the girl? “A-are you okay? I should’ve been paying better attention, I’m so so sorry” she stammered, fidgeting with her tote bag.
